NATIONAL MOM NEWS
The March of Dimes Report Card presents the state of maternal and infant health in the United States (U.S.), Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. The report card indicates the maternal and infant health crisis is worsening for all families. It continues to examine mom and baby health and presents how states are progressing towards pregnancy and childbirth targets. This year, the Report Card also includes a new section to describe advocacy efforts happening in each state to improve the health of moms, babies, and families. You can see how your state ranks at MarchOfDimes.org.
In The Atlantic this week, there’s a great interview with Emily Oster, an economics professor at Brown University and a writer of books on parenting and author of titles Cribsheet, Expecting Better and The Family Firm. Here’s a quote from the interview that resonated with me:
“Probably the worst decision-making approach is to do one thing because one book says it, and then as soon as you read a different book or your mom comes to visit, do the other thing. The more you can make one choice and try to stick to it, the easier your parenting is going to be.”
